Mustang Police Department
The mission of the Mustang Police Department is to ensure the preservation of peace and the quality of life by protecting persons and property against the effects of criminal activity through a partnership between community and police.
The police department is divided into five divisions: administration, patrol, investigations, communications, and records. There are 28 full-time employees, 1 part-time employee and 1 unpaid volunteer reserve officer. The employees are classified as 21 full-time commissioned police officers, 1 volunteer reserve police officer, 5 dispatch/jailers, 1 full-time records clerk, 1 part-time records clerk and 1 office administrator.

The Police Department provides programs such as Internet Safety Training, Gun Safety, Child Safety, Local Neighborhood Watch Programs, House Watch Program, Property I-D Program and Bicycle Registration.

Mustang Fire Department
“Safeguarding the community through exceptional service” – Mustang Fire Department’s mission statement. Whether providing fire suppression, public fire education, pre hospital emergency medical care, or just assisting a citizen with changing a smoke detector battery, the men and women of the Mustang Fire Department are dedicated to that mission.

The Mustang Fire Department operates out of one fire station located at 465 West SH 152. Department staff consists of both paid and volunteer personnel. In 2010, the fire department responded to more than 1,800 calls for service. Average fire department response time for 2010 was less than 6 minutes. Medical calls, including injuries, illnesses and motor vehicle accidents, were a large portion of the call volume.
