Checklist to Open Your Business in Mustang

1. Zoning
    Contact Mustang Community Development before signing a lease or purchasing    property. They can determine if the location you are considering is zoned properly for your type of business.

2. Construction Permits
    Contact Mustang Community Development if you plan to do any construction. You will need to submit plans and obtain permits for electrical, plumbing, mechanical and general construction.

3. Signage
    Contact Mustang Community Development for signage rules and permits, before purchasing sign. A sign permit is required for most signs.

4. City Business License
    Contact Mustang Community Development to obtain form (cost $40 each year, not prorated, renews on October 31 of each year.) Upon submitting form the Building Inspector and Fire Marshall will conduct inspections on your business. Inspections must pass before businesses can open the door for the first day of business. A permit is also needed for your security alarm system.

5. Meet State requirements for opening a business in Oklahoma
    Check Department of Commerce Business Development Site to determine your company's needs, most businesses require a state tax id number, if selling alcohol a state, county and city beverage license is required, fees vary depending on type and location of alcohol sales and consumption.
